The simple answer is - there aren't any!
Of course, the plethora
of 'marketing Gurus' around will
tell you otherwise; but I maintain that marketing is not complex or difficult or
expensive!
Consider the Costermonger;
a small/medium sized business
sector that has survived, and flourished for centuries.
How do they do it?
Simple: they set out their wares on a stall, find a good pitch and tell everyone passing what they
sell, how good it is and how much it
costs!
Not 'Rocket Science' is it.
If you find this analogy a little too vulgar; then how about
'Show & Tell'
Even simpler: we must all remember that splendid learning aid from pre-school; 'Show and tell'
. How many times did you go home to nag your parents about the wonderful toy or
brilliant adventure your classmate revealed and how you couldn't possibly live
another day without said toy or visit to that marvellous place.
Both examples follow the same simple principles. In the
context of modern media marketing, that interprets as:
Present your product in the best possible light. Polish those apples and stack them nicely on
the shelf!
Find the right pitch. Choose the best media platform to reach you
'ideal customer profile'
Use the right 'Spiel'.
Entice your prospects by telling what they want to know ..." lovely fresh, crisp English Granny Smith's apples just up from Kent - £1 a Lb! ...

If you want a business that will make 'you and yours' a decent living and have something to
pass on to future generations ; then following these simple principles will help
you achieve that.
Many of London's
market traders have been around for generations!
Maybe the Costermongers have got
it right!
